Cedar Rapids Trenchless Sewer Line Repair – No Dig Sewer Lining

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Cedar Rapids offers the innovative no-dig solution for sewer line repairs.

Most underground pipes and pipe systems are more than 50 years old. However, more often than not, pipe failure, is not caused by age or how long the pipe has been in the ground. The “load” causes pipe failure. The load is what the industry refers to as the amount of water or sewage running through a pipe. As areas become more developed and more populated, this will contribute to the increase in the pipe load stress.

The traditional method is to implement the “dig and replace” solution. The traditional method is effective, but the drawback is a very expensive procedure and will be severely disruptive to surrounding businesses or residential communities. With Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, we aim to mitigate the repair costs with our proven “no-dig” sewer lining technology. Our trenchless pipe lining method involves the bare minimal excavation with minimal disruption.

How Does the Trenchless Sewer Repair Work?

This method consists of relining the entire length of your existing sewer pipe with a brand new seamless liner. The new liner will leave your sewer line working correctly and make it stronger and last longer than the original sewer pipe. The new liner is made of a flexible material and saturated with epoxy. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing will install it by using a special machine to blow it into the existing sewer pipe from one small access point, usually in the basement.

Once the new liner is in place, we insert a bladder into the new sewer pipe liner and inflate with air. The highly pressured air forces the new liner against the interior of the old sewer pipe and seals all cracks and damaged areas. The pipe takes a couple of hours to cure and remove the bladder. Your new sewer pipe will be rated to last for at least 50 years.

Benefits of Trenchless Sewer Line Replacement

  • No destruction to your home’s landscape
  • You do not have to deal with days or weeks of construction
  • Costs less than traditional sewer line replacement.
  • The new pipe warranty expands to 50 years.

Unfortunately, many homeowners don’t think about their sewer line until there is a big, costly problem.  If your home is more than 40 years old, you should have your sewer line inspected.
